Lusk, Dominic Michael, is an Afro-American who was born on April, 1st, in the year 1962 in Texas. Dominic Lusk was born 1000 days later than his elder sibling (Lynda) and 700 days ahead of his younger sibling (Richard) in Texas. A lot of Dominic’s early childhood was lived in total ignorance to the big African - American civil rights motion which had hit the whole US; one motion which paved the way for him and his likes to run their lives with dignity and independence. His archetypal Afro – American upbringing was stern, disciplinarian and yet, full of love and affection. His father and mother did not have the luxury of education and were employed as unskilled wagers; which did not allow a good life style but they ensured that their young ones were never denied of any of their basic needs. The importance of education was not lost to Dominic’s parents and they did every thing possible to enable all their children to go to school.

Dominic was an better than ordinary student and even now takes satisfaction from the truth that he was better than his siblings at school. In the year 1975, Dominic’s father made a decision to enter his brother’s business and the Lusk family shifted to Kansas City, as a result. Dominic persued with his schooling in Dominic Lusk Kansas City and at the same time, started to assist his father and uncle in their milk delivery business. His youth was as regularly common, as his childhood was. Dominic by now was well acquainted with his heritage and grateful for the relative independence that his people enjoyed. Dominic Lusk's greatestforemost influence at this age was not Martin Luther King but unexpectedly, an African American fire fighter by the name Robert Lowery, who became the first black fire commissioner in the country. Dominic nursed a wish to become a fire fighter like his hero. When he completed school with good marks, he shared this desire to his parents and also told them that he had no inclination to pursue bigger education. His parents had to unwillingly agree to this and Dominic right away joined the fire service of Dominic Lusk Kansas City to live his fantasy.

As the years passed by, Dominic’s appeal and attractiveness for fire fighting gradually reduced as he found out that the fire fighter’s job was tough, demanding and thankless; that demanded big hours and extremely small benefits. His lack of higher studies also narrowed his opportunities to move up the work ladder. But, he had a regular job that paid enough. In 1986, he married Nancy (who is his distant relative from his mother’s side), after a courtship of two years. Dominic’s and Nancy’s son William was born in the year 1988 and that is when Dominic realized that he had to complete higher studies to provide better for his family. He took up part time studies and since he had always been a good student, he was able to complete his graduation within four years. Just when he was about to complete his graduation, Dominic was given a chance to transition to the administrative division in the fire service department. He happily moved and still continues to work there till today. The years between 1993 and 2003 were normal career wise but was full of anguish personally. He lost his father in 1994, his mother expired in 1998 and his better half left this world in 2003. What a sorrowful span of 10 years!

Dominic Lusk chose not to remarry after his wife’s death and decided to be a single parent to William. William is 20 years young now and is on the verge of completing his studies. Dominic’s responsibilities towards his family are almost over and he now is looking forward to the day when he can lead a life for himself; he wants to start his funfilled childhood all over again!
